Tray Chic

With a new year often comes the desire to organize and fluff around the house! Practical and pretty trays are an easy way to freshen up home décor, as they can sit atop the coffee table, desk, or vanity and collect items that may otherwise end up scattered on a counter in a junk drawer. Switch up what you keep on display in your home this year with some chic decorative tray accessories:

EVERYDAY TRINKET TRAYS

Lolli and I both enjoy placing “trinket trays” around the house, from atop our bedside tables to in powder rooms as soap dishes and on vanity countertops. Some may include monograms or messages on porcelain, like the pictured dish on my vanity counter by Mottahedeh, and others may be crystal or silver. They are great collectibles and catchalls for miscellaneous items from lip balms to jewelry, and they make good gifts, too!

SILVER TRAY TOUCHES

Collecting antique silver trays is a great way to have beautiful presentation options on-hand for dinner parties, breakfast in bed, coffee or tea service, and more! Store them carefully on lined shelving or with felt pads to avoid scratches, and keep pieces shining with baking soda à la Martha Stewart, or use our recommended Wright’s silver polish to enjoy and preserve silver pieces that can be passed down through generations. Set one of these trays atop a coffee table, ottoman or guest bed with some flowers, a water carafe, and a book or note to sweeten a room with a touch of Southern hospitality.

DOLL UP YOUR DESK

It’s no secret that we love monogrammed gifts and goods at Lolli and Me (Just see our Merry Monograms post from a few weeks ago!).  A personalized lucite or acrylic tray is a great desk organizer for the home office. Lolli likes to keep a monogrammed letter tray by her home computer, where she can keep track of notes and invitations. These types of trays keep little piles organized but also add a nice touch to a desktop, even when just sitting empty awaiting mail, keys and glasses, or other incoming items. Larger desk trays also double as great indoor-outdoor entertaining serving pieces when needed!
