When babies and little bitties have a birthday, it’s fun to think of a theme older siblings and the whole family will enjoy, too! For Liza’s 2nd, we chose a Beatrix Potter theme, since both of my boys had been enjoying the books lately, especially tales about the mischievous and legendary Peter Rabbit! Lolli has collected figurines of Beatrix Potter characters as well as children’s porcelain plates and cups over many years, so she hosted a family dinner decked out for the occasion, with a menu inspired by “Mr. McGregor’s Garden!”

With a little help from Etsy, we were able to find customizable birthday hats and banners, cute cocktail napkins, and of course, collectible Beatrix Potter books as party favors! Lolli also pulled some of her Easter bunny collection for her tablescape:
Meri Meri paper cups and napkins for the kids were in theme, as were the balloons we customized for this sweet occasion! This could also be darling as a baby shower theme!
Our oldest son’s school was in the midst of “Reading Rally,” so he enjoyed Lolli’s Beatrix Potter book collection after dinner–the same ones I read as a child! But the biggest hit of the night was the carrot cake:
